February, 1998 - Chipper

"Quit Poking, I'm Typing."

Are you ready for some well-written, humorous, and entertaining stories?  Well, go check out Chipper's Website and get your fill!  Chipper (a chocolate lab) is our Pet of the Month this February, and we're glad to have him on board.  Obviously a gentle and intelligent dog, Chipper "The Hero Dog" seems to get involved in everything going on around his world...chickens, kittens, horses...it doesn't much matter, Chipper's there!  An excerpt:

"My driveway runs six hundred feet back from the road and Chipper rarely goes down it, too much to be done up here. One December morning however, Chip insisted I get up at the horrendous hour of four a.m. (something about the demands of a 100lb Lab jumping on a water bed that makes "No, I'm not getting up" a futile statement). Chip doesn't bark, he whuffles and pokes with his nose when he wants something. With that for a prod, down the dark driveway we went. In the road was a paper bag mewing and moving. Chip ran to bag, carefully picked it up and brought it to me. Inside were two tiny kittens and more fleas than I've seen on a grown animal, much less babies too young to open their eyes..."
