November, 1997 - Zachary Bear
Don't let the name fool you. Just look at that face and you know you're not looking at a bear...
This month, fuzzydog's Pet of the Month goes to Zachary Bear, a Silky Terrier who (if the flood of voting was any indication) definitely gets the most out of a cute face. What's a Silky Terrier? Here's a description from Zac's website:
"Silky Terriers, as adults, usually are about 9-10 inches tall at the shoulders, weigh about 10 pounds and have very sturdy, compact bodies.
Originating in Australia, Silky's are a cross between the tiny Yorkshire Terrier and the larger Australian Terrier. Though they are a true "Toy Breed", Silky's were bred to be work dogs ~ as fearless hunters & killers of vermin, such as rats and snakes ~ on the farms of Australian! Silky's continue to serve this function even today.
Silky's are known for their intelligence and their alert, inquisitive nature. They may be small dogs, but don't be fooled into thinking they are lap dogs, for in their hearts Silkys are convienced they are very big dogs! Though they are loving and affectionate little creatures, they are very active & would really rather play tug-of-war, chase a ball, attack a squeekie toy or just wrestle with you, than be cuddled."
So visit Zac's website today and get a better look at this Silky Terrier...what a face!!
